HISTORY
Completed in 2000, the dream of original owners, Dennis and Cindy Pryor, was to design a lavish family home fit for royalty, reminiscent of the English countryside. The Pryors and their son spent approximately ten years living in the 38,000 square foot estate house before selling the property. The Pryors even left about 90% of the estate’s originally sourced furnishings behind, juxtaposing a unique blend of history, authenticity, and character to the modern construction of the house. The Dover Hall Experiences team took over the management of the estate house in 2017.

Located in the equestrian country of Manakin-Sabot, this 38,000 square foot marvel sits on 55 rolling acres. Graduates of the University of Richmond, the Pryors designed the house to resemble an English Tudor castle with heavy Gothic influences. Each room is unique, creating an immersive, exploratory experience. The estate cost $30 million to build and furnish, contains 31 geothermal HVAC units, 27 restrooms, 19 fireplaces, ten lodging suites, an eight-car garage, three apartments, and it took nearly four years to complete.

Tips

As you make your way up the drive way, you feel transported back to 15th century Europe. We chose this venue to offer a unique, immersive wedding experience. That being said, we want to offer you some tips to ensure you make the most of your time at Dover:

  1. Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll want to explore all of the nooks and crannies of Dover. From the pool tucked away in the backyard to Steph’s favorite cheetah-fur printed bathroom, there is ton of ground to cover.

  2. Explore. This is not a wedding in which you want to stay in one room. You have to check out the Library, Billiards Room, the Parlor and so much more.

  3. Savor each bite. Priority #1 for Brandon when picking a wedding venue was a yummy menu. Please make sure you try all of the items to fully enjoy and appreciate his time and thoughtfulness in selecting each item.
